Trade-ins

How trade-ins and credits work

We make it as easy as possible for you to do the right thing for the environment, the community, women in need and yourself.

Ciao Bella Moda offers an incentive for you to buy better quality fashion and then be rewarded when you trade in clothing you have spent good money on.

You simply trade them in for store credits - One credit = one dollar.

You can use up to half the cost of any item in store with store credits which are accumulated from your traded in items.

For example, you have $100 in credits. You like a dress and it’s $100. You cannot use the total amount of credit to purchase the dress. You can only use up to half.

That would cost you $50 in cash and $50 in credits and you would still have $50 credits left.

It’s not so much what you get in credits as the affordable quality clothing that you get in return. What we keep to re-sell in store is traditionally what most women cannot afford. Our aim is to make quality clothing affordable, so we stop buying cheap throw-away fashion.

What we do not keep, we redistribute to women and families in need in Australia and around the world or you can take them back. It’s our promise that nothing that enters our doors will end up in landfill.

Credits never run out of date, and you can nominate a family member, a friend, or another woman you know who is doing it tough to share your credit. Their name must be on your Ciao Bella account or access will be denied.

The credits keep your wardrobe turning over with quality pieces from around the world and the dollars keep the business going.

We believe if we can make saving the environment profitable, then we wouldn’t have a problem.

Items traded in are assessed by so many factors.

Fabric, quality, demand, size, designer, condition, age etc.

It’s taken us many years to fine tune this system and make it fair.

A basic rule of thumb is we assess what we can sell it for, and you get a third, a third for expenses and a third for the shop. If people use half in credits the margins are small so, feel free to buy even when you don’t have credits.

A lot of what we trade-in still gets donated after it has had a chance to sell.
